Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is primarily designed to protect workers at work or in the workplace from various hazards such as Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Physical, Electrical, Mechanical are other workplace hazards of injury or illness.
The use of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) depends on what kind of user works and what type of risk the user is in. Such as an electrician using his workable Personal Protective Equipment(PPE), again using a doctor’s PPE, where the electrician and the doctor are free to work. Doctors are trying to prevent and control the current Coronavirus(COVID-19), only to ensure that 100% of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) is available to physicians only if they can play a leading role in treating coronavirus patients.
The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be checked regularly and must be changed without repairing the defective Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
# The main purposes of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) are as follows:
- To protect people from harmful viruses & bacteria,
- To maintain the safe operation of the plant,
- To protect the people in working place,
- To enhance the awareness of process safety,
- To reduce accidents.
# Classification of Personal Protective Equipment(PPE):
Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) can be divided into the following classes.
01. Head protective equipment:-
A safety helmet must have some properties such as chemical resistance, as low a weight as possible, it must not deform when subjected to pressure from the side, and it must have an adjustable internal fastening.
Polyethylene(Laminated Plastic):- Resist impact, water, oil, and electricity.
Synthetic resins(Glass fiber impregnated with resin):- High strength-to-weight ratio and dielectric strength.
Aluminum Alloy:- Protect against impact but not against electric shock.
02. Eye-end face protective equipment:-
It is important to use Eye and Face Protective Equipment to protect the eyes and mouth from any external injury, harmful objects, harmful rays, moving particles, or any harmful readings.
Plastic face shield,
Metal screen face shield,
Welding helmet,
Face-shield,
Safety spectacles,
Eye-shield,
Safety goggles,
Welding filter,
Visor.
03. Ear protective equipment:-
The ear is an important part of the human sixth sense. In the field of work, we expose excess noise pollution in the workplace. Our Approved Hearing Exposure Limit is essentially 80 dB in 8 Hours. If anyone exposes to more than 80 dB of Noise, then Consumption hours will be reduced.
Mainly two types of Ear protectors are used at different noise levels. There are as follow
Insert type ear protector:- EARPLUG.
Muff-type ear protector- EARMUFF
04. Respiratory protective equipment:-
If you work in a biological hazardous environment like the Coronavirus or any other virus, Today that is terrifying of the world or work in a harmful gas environment then you must use respiratory Protective Equipment. The following types of Respiratory Protective Equipment and used in different environments.
Mechanical Filter Respirator:- Protect against dust, mist, etc.
Chemical Cartridge Respirator:- Used for Adsorption of low concentration certain vapor or gases. Uses absorbent likes:-
=> Activated charcoal,
=> Soda-lime (Calcium hydroxide with sodium or potassium hydroxide)
05. Hand and finger protective equipment:-
Globes of various designs provide the protection of hands and fingers against a range of industrial hazards.
Including:-
Cut and abrasions,
Extremes of temperature hot and cold,
Skin irritation and dermatitis,
Contact with toxic or corrosive liquid.
The following types of globes are normally used:-
Leather Gloves,
Asbestos Gloves,
Linen Globes,
PVC Globes,
Rubber Gloves, etc
06. Foot protective equipment:-
Ordinary shows give little or no protection against falling objects, corrosive liquid, sharp objects, nails, etc. It is, therefore, obligatory to wear safety shoes.

07. Special clothing:-
In the current treatment of CORONA VIRUS or COVID-19 virus that is prevalent in the world, physicians use special clothing that does not allow the virus to enter.
Water Profe or Virus Profe:-
=> Reusable Special clothing,
=> Disposable Special clothing.
=> Aluminized asbestos is used for heavy-duty suits.
=> Aluminized fabric for Fair approach suits.
Rubber, Neoprene, Vinyl And Fabrics Coated With These Materials:-
=> Protects against acids, acoustics, and other corrosives.
=> Neoprene resists petroleum oil, solvents, acids, alkalis, and other corrosives.
08. Miscellaneous:-
